{"id":364,"date":"2011-12-03T13:51:43","date_gmt":"2011-12-03T19:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heiserfamily.com\/happenings\/?p=364"},"modified":"2011-12-03T13:54:19","modified_gmt":"2011-12-03T19:54:19","slug":"friendface-aka-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heiserfamily.com\/happenings\/?p=364","title":{"rendered":"Friendface (aka Facebook)"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class='mp-share-buttons'><li class='mp-share-buttons-fb'><div class='fb-like' data-href='http%3A%2F%2Fwww.heiserfamily.com%2Fhappenings%2F%3Fp%3D364' data-width='' data-layout='button' data-action='like' data-size='small' data-share='true'><\/div><\/li><li class='mp-share-buttons-tw'><a class='twitter-share-button' href='https:\/\/twitter.com\/share'?url='http%3A%2F%2Fwww.heiserfamily.com%2Fhappenings%2F%3Fp%3D364' data-via='Breaker119'><\/a><\/li><li class='mp-share-buttons-li' style='margin-top:-10px !important;'><script type='in\/share' data-url='http:\/\/www.heiserfamily.com\/happenings\/?p=364'><\/script><\/li><\/ul><div class='mp-share-clear-fix'><\/div><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If the <em>Friendface<\/em> reference is lost on you I\u2019ll direct you here:&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/6rNgCnY1lPg\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/6rNgCnY1lPg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For years now I have managed to not have a Facebook account, and I have been quite happy without one.&nbsp; In fact, it has been almost like a badge of honor.&nbsp; I\u2019ve even given Google+ a shot, but nobody that I know really uses it.&nbsp; The conversation will typically go something like<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Inquiring Mind: You really don\u2019t have a Facebook account?<\/p>\n<p>Me: No<\/p>\n<p>Inquiring Mind: Why not?&nbsp; Everybody is doing it.&nbsp; How do you keep up with your friends?<\/p>\n<p>Me: When I first heard of it you had to have an EDU email address.&nbsp; It was only a service for students and I no longer had a student email address.&nbsp; I can hear about anything going on with my friends from my wife.&nbsp; She has an account<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, keep in mind that I do have a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/breaker119\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter account<\/a> and have so for quite some time.&nbsp; I use it a lot for professional purposes, immediate news and information, as well as personal thoughts, etc.&nbsp; This often further confuses the above inquiring mind even more.<\/p>\n<p>However, after so many years of not participating in Facebook\u2019s social media outlet, it looks like professional needs are finally going to drive me over the edge.&nbsp; It started with a request to add a <em>Like<\/em> button to one of the my employer\u2019s online presences.
